Happy Thanksgiving Day
As the weather grows chilly and colorful leaves drift down from the trees, it's time to start thinking about Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated in the United States, Canada, and some other countries. It is a time for people to give thanks for the blessings of the past year, including the harvest and the overall well-being of their families. In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, while in Canada, it is celebrated on the second Monday in October.
The traditional Thanksgiving meal often includes roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Families and friends gather together to share a special meal and express gratitude for the good things in their lives.
Americans attach great importance to this rare time when their families are together, and after work they are busy leaving, running on motorways, bumping on planes, so to speak, and returning home: they must get home in time to sit with their mothers and fathers, their loved ones and their children. By candlelight, the family prays together, and then serves up a glistening turkey, cut up spiced pumpkin pie, roasted sweet potatoes and corn, poured with juice, and filled with fruits and vegetables in Wire Fruit Basket ...... They ate and drank and talked and laughed loudly. They were thankful: thankful for God's grace, thankful for the pioneering performance of their ancestors, thankful for the love of their parents and the filial piety of their children. The quarrels that were once there were dissolved; the barriers that were once there were dissolved.
The Thanksgiving Day volunteer boom is on the rise, and Thanksgiving is a time to be charitable because it is a non-denominational holiday that belongs to the entire nation and is meant to be "a time of blessings".
The Thanksgiving Day Parade is considered a traditional event, especially the Macy's Parade, which is held annually in Manhattan in the centre of New York City and attracts a large number of people. Organisers estimate that around three million people take part in the event, marching along the parade route from the Upper West Side to the Macy's shop in Herald Square.
In recent years, Americans have also added new ways to celebrate Thanksgiving. For example, football games involving professional teams and college students are held on Thanksgiving Day. Some of these games are shown on national television.
Overall, Thanksgiving is a time for reflection, gratitude, and coming together with loved ones to celebrate the blessings of the past year.
