This year's Canton Fair will be themed on high quality development and is intended to be synchronized online and offline, with the grand opening on April 15.

Before you board your flight to China, be prepared. Here are some of the preparations we have done for ourselves that have saved us time and less hassle.

Pre-register online and print out the confirmation page.

This step is very important. You can save a lot of valuable time at the fair by avoiding the snaking lines where you can't see your head and walking in like a VIP! Having seen those lines myself, you won't want to spend the day there. Your first step should be to register online and apply for Buyer status, which is free to attend the fair and the Buyer badge is free. To apply for qualification you will need to have your passport, a recent passport style photo and business cards.

How to have a productive day at Canton Fair?

Wear comfortable shoes for business casual wear

When attending the fair, it is important to dress to look professional and we noticed that people mostly dressed casually. People from all over the world attended the fair, so there was a wide variety of clothing. However, at the fair, we noticed a woman wearing a straight skirt and high heels (not sure how they felt at the end of the day). In fact, you need a pair of comfortable, hard-wearing shoes above all else.

Bring a rolling suitcase to carry supplier catalogs and product samples

There were many people at Canton Fair who brought wheeled suitcases. Since we only collected a very small selection of catalogs, we didn't bring them on the first two days of the show. On the third day, we brought our carry-on suitcase to the fair as we planned to purchase some sample products. This was better than a shoulder bag or tote.

Bring lots of business cards

Bring as many as you can, suppliers will always ask for your business cards for future business cooperation.

Meet with the suppliers you are interested in and then bind their cards into our notebook.

Write a line about their products, reference prices, minimum order requirements, booth number and information about who we talked to, or collect catalogs, mark specific products we are interested in, and write down their booth number (this is very useful when we visit them again on the last day to buy samples, as it is easy to lose!) .

Take selfies with the salespeople we talk to so we remember who is who. Sometimes suppliers will ask if they want their picture taken.

Canton Fair is very informative and useful for those who are looking for the right supplier for their business. Buyers who find their ideal supplier will then arrange a factory tour directly after the fair. I believe this is a great opportunity to get a feel for the appearance of their factory, the warehouse, working conditions and product quality.
